Instructions for Knitting a Liesl Scarf

These instructions are for knitting a lovely fashion scarf with a pronounced chunky rib.

The scarf is knitted with a Brioche stitch which, even for a beginner,  is very easy to learn.

       Scarf Width:               7ins (18cm)  approx.

       Scarf Length:             60ins (150cm) approx.

       Needles:                    12mm

       No. Balls:                    1 x 200g Rico Liesl

Cast on 14 stitches (Note: if a wider/narrower scarf is desired, ensure that you increase/decrease cast on stitches by an even number)

Row 1: *Yarn over needle, slip 1 purlways, knit 1. Repeat from * to end (21 stitches).

Row 2: *Yarn over needle, slip 1 purlways, knit 2 together. Repeat from * across.

Repeat only row 2 for pattern.

Continue until desired scarf length is reached, leaving appox. 72ins (200cm) of yarn for final 2 rows

When ending, work the row by eliminating the yarn overs and simply purling 1 and knitting 2 together across. After that row you can cast off in a regular knit 1, purl 1 ribbing pattern. Make sure you cast off loosely, as this fabric is very stretchy.
